The joust on Saturday was amazing! I’ll put up some of the pictures I took on my 3DS – I kept snapping the pictures a little early – but I got one great picture of the broken lances flying through the air. Irony: that was the one where the lances hit tip to tip, and it would have been more impressive a little before the hit. ha. Little disappointing, because the Black Knight yielded at the end, after the Champion asked for a “quit fight,” where they would joust until every lance on the field was broken. I was taking pictures during the runs, and it was cool, but I was hoping just to watch without taking pictures for that part. The Champion got hit in the head, and the Irish knight got unseated several times – and got up every time, a trooper! One of the horses stumbled coming out at the beginning, but was fine. He apparently was 23 years old! One of the Knights got stepped on before we got there in the afternoon. They were being filmed by the National Geographic channel for a show about their troupe, the Knights of Mayhem. And…what else… oh, there was some kerfuffle about the Black knight needing his own saddle, and how that was against the rules, but he wouldn’t ride unless he could use his saddle. In the end, they let him, and he still lost to the Champion. The Champion is awesome, because he’s funny and you can tell loves the attention. He is a charismatic character which immensely improves the show. A little like WWF. Also, they were preceeded by a really good band called Wino Vino, a low key archery contest, and a pretty lame sword fight.
Oh, and while at the fair, I got my first Street Pass Mii! Someone at the fair had their 3DS with them, in sleep mode, and walked close enough that we exchanged Miis!!! Thanks, Kittymaru of Texas!
